Mote Park made us feel very welcome and it was good to see they had the same catering staff who looked after us well, last year, both before the match and with a good meal afterwards.
The match was contested over six triples and was close throughout the entire game and for once BBA had our noses ahead for much of it, although Mote Park were never far behind, which made for an exciting match.
At tea both teams were winning on three triples each and it was clear the result was going to be close. In our team we had several players who were having their first winter game and it was good to see Terry and Kathy Coombes and Richard Bourne. As we neared the end of the match, BBA started to build a lead and it was very pleasing that the final result was a good win for BBA by 98-86 and by 4 triples to 2. Well done BBA
Sorting out our top rink was a difficult task as three triples all ended with a victory by 10 shots, but the verdict as to who was top went to our President’s triple of Mike Saunders, Jean Smith and Ian Frisby. The other triples with this margin of victory should also be mentioned and they were Marjorie Caldwell, Bob Daintree and Ray Lane and David Evans, Kathy Coombes and Keith Atkins.
We only have a few games remaining this winter but let’s hope we can build on this success and finish our indoor season on a high.
