The contest was close all the way with both sides taking the lead at different times and there was never more than a few shots between us. With just the last few ends to go. BBA took a small lead but as typical for the afternoon Desborough gained a few shots and with just one end remaining, BBA were leading by two but Desborough were holding one and a measure until Ian Frisby’s last wood took second shot and BBA won the overall match by one shot with the result being 93-92. A fantastic finish to a lovely afternoon. BBA top rink was the President’s rink of Glynis Atkins, Tony Grimes and Robin Gordon who had a fine victory.
This takes the BBA’s record this Winter indoor season to seven wins and seven losses which is the best record that anyone can remember and says a lot for the overall standard that BBA are able to achieve at the moment and well done to everyone.
We were given a warm welcome to Desborough. Their new facilities are wonderful with eight rinks and the lighting is superb. During the game there was even a spell of music which for most of us was an inovation. The game started and in a note of things to come our President’s rink started with a seven on the first end. However the overall score remained very close.
