The game started with a little confusion as we had a player absent but Sussex County kindly found a substitute so the match of five rinks could take place. As usual Sussex County arrived with a strong side made up of rinks from local clubs and a President’s rink.
In the early stages the BBA held its own and the scores for both sides grew at a similar rate. At tea, BBA had a slim lead but the match was very competitive. Immediately after tea, BBA started to build a lead and as the game continued the lead stretched to nearly 20 but with five ends to play Sussex County started to come back and narrowed the lead to 8 and it looked like we were going to get a very close finish however as the last few ends were completed it became clear that BBA were keeping their noses in front and the final score was a win for BBA by 95-88. BBA ‘s top rink was the President’s rink of Paula Thompson, John Elwood, John Mason and Glynis Atkins. who won by a score of 24-9.
We must thank John Elwood who was making a guest appearance. We know John from being a BBA member years ago but he has many other responsibilities nowadays, one being Chairman at Donyngs and we must thank him for his participation.
This was a fine win for BBA beating a strong Sussex County side and takes BBA record in this winter season to five wins and five losses which is the best for this stage of a season that anyone can remember so keep it up BBA and everyone playing yesterday needs a pat on the back for securing such a good victory.
