Match Report: King George Fields IBC

Before we reached King George Field, we learnt of the sudden and unexpected death last week, of their Steward, Kevin. This set a sombre mood at the club but they continued and we were made welcome. In the speeches, Ian Frisby spoke of the sadness for their club and his family at losing Kevin who had been known by many of us over the 10 years he was at KGF. BBA sent condolences for their loss.

In the match BBA had a fine start and at tea we were leading and things were looking optimistic for a great result.  However, they must have doctored the tea we were served (!) as things went seriously downhill afterwards and we lost the match 84-49.

Our best rink lost in a very close match by 24-22 and that was Ann Brown, Mark Broughton, Margaret Gordon and Tim Vane. KGF have new caterers and they served a fine meal.

It was good to see Richard Scrimshaw turn up as reserve and we look forward to seeing him on the green soon.

So far, no wins in the indoor season for BBA, but there were signs that a good result for us is not far away.

Fingers crossed for the next few games at Sutton and Preston
