An excellent turnout of members and guests for the annual ‘’battle of the sexes’’ on a warm and balmy day at Sutton BC was played out an a ‘’Green’’ that was actually a ‘’Brown’’ and as hard as concrete in places.
Some late additions and sadly a higher number of withdrawals, led to the contest taking place over Three Rinks and Two Triples and with Two Gentlemen being awarded honorary Lady status for the day but without the presence of female apparel (they were suitably rewarded for their sacrifice with a bottle of wine each by the President).
A wonderful match full of skill, banter, good humour, and more than a little competitive pressure finished in an even share of the ‘’HONOURS’’ as both teams had two winning rinks and completely without contrivance, the rink on which The President and Lady Senior Vice President did battle finished in a DRAW.
In reality the kind of even and close fought result that we all had hoped for meant that the Men limped home by 95 Shots to 83.
MEN’S TOP RINK – THE TRIPLE OF – MARK BROUGHTON, GEOFF BELL, GARY STEVENS
LADIES’ TOP RINK – THE TRIPLE OF – JANET MILLS (On her debut), MARGERET GORDON (at least there is One winner in the family), VAL BAKER
