Match Report – Royal Bank of Scotland

After a run of five defeats, we were keen to round off the Outdoor season with a good win.

It was a sunny afternoon, the opposition greeted us in a friendly manner and all was well until a pneumatic hole digger started up, just the other side of the hedge – but that did not deter the BBA and we had an 11 shots lead at 9 ends. This increased to 14 shots at 15 ends, but there was no sign of the occasional knack of dropping lots of shots during the last few ends and we finished with a magnificent score of 101 – 64. Winning rink: Malcolm Whitehead, Margaret Gordon and Ron Cook.

After the game, we were entertained to a very tasty cold buffet and access to a wide range of drinks (not free!) The respective team leaders said nice things about each other’s players and we were also pleased to learn that RBS are in the process of agreeing a 10-year lease on the green etc – so we can all come back again next year and look for another victory.

One down side – the only losing triple consisted of all 3 “presidents” – is this where it goes wrong when they are spread amongst other teams??
