A trip down to the seaside via a lovely drive over the South Downs for many of us on yet another hot and humid day.
However, a cool breeze was present, the seagulls left us unscathed, and as ever our hosts were very welcoming and indeed provided us with a guest player as one of our players had withdrawn at short notice.
East Preston grounds and club house are quite charming, and the after-match meal was substantial and of excellent quality.
BUT sadly, their green is not only heavy but infested with ‘’Dollar spot’’ which necessitated some advice being given afterwards to all members to wash not only their woods, but also their bowls shoes to avoid unwanted transference.
The match itself was evenly contested throughout with the BBA never far behind our hosts, but with just the one winning rink, a draw, and three losing, we succumbed by 12 shots. Top rink went to our veteran skip Paul Jolliffe, Dave Wiltshire, and our guest (“Linda Carter/Wonder Woman”).
